Warner Bros. officially launched its streaming platform, HBO Max, in the United States on May 27, 2020. Most recently, HBO Max launched its streaming service on March 8 in 15 additional European countries: Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Montenegro, the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
As of now, Hbo Max is available in 61 territories across the world, with a total global subscriber base of 76.8 million. Warner Bros acquired Discovery with a deal worth $4.3 billion, and according to reports, HBO Max and Discovery Plus are going to be merged very soon, but the date has yet to be revealed.
What is the launch date for Hbo Max India?
Last year, Warner Bros. confirmed that HBO Max would be launched in Southeast Asia as well as India by the end of next year. According to the Korea Times, Warner Bros. will launch its streaming platform HBO Max in South Korea by the end of 2022. So there’s a very high chance of launching Hbo Max in India before the end of this year.
In November last year, Warner Bros. appointed Saugata Mukherjee as Head of Content at HBO Max India, and apart from this, Aaneesh Passi joined HBO Max India as Head of Talent Acquisition.
In January 2022, Warner Bros. hired Arjun Nohvar and gave him the responsibility of launching HBO Max in India. But recently, Warner Bros. appointed Arjun Nohvar as the Country Manager of Warner Bros. India. So it may have an impact on its launch in India, but all reports on the internet indicate that Hbo Max will be available by the end of 2022.

Recently, a shocking update came from Variety: Warner Bros. Discovery will not produce more original content for HBO Max in the Nordic market, including Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, central Europe, the Netherlands, and Turkey. And recently, Warner Bros. Discovery scrapped the launch of HBO Max in French. According to recent reports, Warner Bros. will not launch HBO Max in any country this year. So HBO Max India may not be launched this year, and there is a good chance that HBO Max will be launched in India next year.
